Issue No 17 – 26th February 2023

With sadness in my heart, dear Readers, I cannot report any effective progress towards combatting Climate Change.

I can report a number of Calamities happening in our World, such as the Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, Floodings in New Zealand, abnormally cold weather in the United States, drought in Venice etc etc…

In the early 2000’s, a new field of climate science emerged to explore the human effect on extreme weather, such as floods, heatwaves, droughts and storms. A very important step and congratulations to all those who participate.

The results show the mounting evidence that human activity raises the risk of extreme weather, especially that linked to heat. A recent study based on their analysis reveals:

  • 71% of the 504 extreme weather events and trends included in the map were found to be made more likely or more severe by human-caused climate change.
  • 9% of events or trends were made less likely or less severe by climate change, meaning 80% of all events experienced some human impact. The remaining 20% of events and trends showed no discernible human influence or were inconclusive.
  • Of the 152 extreme heat events that have been assessed by scientists, 93% found that climate change made the event or trend more likely or more severe.
  • For the 126 rainfall or flooding events studied, 56% found human activity had made the event more likely or more severe. For the 81 drought events studied, it’s 68%.

which certainly proves that we humans are messing up Nature.

Combatting Climate Change to save our World, emphasised by most to be the most important activity in the World today, progresses at an alarmingly slow rate, caused by the lack of an imposed and organised determined action by our Worlds Politicians.

I name and blame them for their lack of action against the greatest calamity our World has ever faced

IF WE ABUSE NATURE IT WILL, IN TURN, ABUSE US…. IF WE AID NATURE IT WILL, IN TURN, AID US…………

I would like to add, as a reminder to every citizen Worldwide, that we must all, individually, exactly follow the published United Nations steps to combat Climate Change. I listed them in Issue No 8 dated August 13, 2021 and I repeat them below for your easy access:

Here are the UN symbols to be followed:

Save energy at home

Drive less

Eat plant-based foods

Fly less

Cut your food waste

Reduce, reuse, repair, recycle

Get wind or solar energy

Switch to an electric vehicle

Choose eco-friendly products

Pass it on

Sincerely,

Gordon.
