Sincere greetings from Gordon.
In August 2021 the United Nations issued a Listing of 10 ‘rules’ that we, as individuals, should follow and activate to combat pollution and resulting Climate Change.
To obtain such a listing was the main reason that I created this website. Now the United Nations Listing has been realised I considered closing down my ‘gordonmabbutt.com’ website as its purpose had been achieved.
(The UN list is shown in issue No 8 of August 2021 together with the link to their site which we must all follow closely – click on issue no 8 to the right of this text).
Meanwhile however, after learning the results of the recent United Nations international meeting held in Glashow UK called COP26, which importantly concern Climate Change Prevention activity at National level, I feel there is a need to provide more requesting comment on behalf of ourselves as individuals whose potentialiy quite important input to reducng climate change seems to have again been overlooked.
There can be no doubt that the United Nations Cop26 meeting in November 2021 has made great achievements taking into account promises made by the Nations represented. In particular, if we can achieve reducing/eliminating CO2 emissions worldwide, particularly counting on the countries still useing much coal fired industry such as Russia. USA, China and India, we should be able to reach the set targets of the United Nations.
(China and India requested an alteration of the originally agreed text by changing two words concerning CO2 emissions from ‘phase out’ to ‘phase down’. We must hope that their future intent leans strongly towards ‘phase out’),
Importantly too, the Cop 26 ensured that each Nation is fully aware of the disastrous dangers non-compliance to the promises made during the Meeting will bring upon our World.
My personal feeling:
Reverting back to the point of view of the individual, you and me, (and there are about 6 billion of us worldwide) it seems our ‘potential’ to clean up our World has again been negated. It seems to me that those chosen to guide us via our respective Nations, namely the United Nations, need to do much more in this respect, This is not a criticism but a plea as I am fully aware that the United Nations are already doing so much good in this World already, which we sometimes take for granted. Perhaps financial infuences must be overcome to allow balanced guidance.
The danger that the World now faces should surely inspire each Nation to agree to declare ‘War’ on Climate Change with every Nation in the World placing themselves on a ‘War footing’ coordinated by a United Nations War Council.
This Council must be financially able to help certain areas dependant on real needs and impose fines in case of default.
Asking each Nation to meet certain levels must be ordered, not promised, and be non-debatable. Only in this way can we expect the desired solution as presently promises are mostly broken at Nation level accompanied by the usual excuses. This can no longer be accepted.
OUR WORLD IS AT STAKE.
Concerning the United Nations SYMBOLIC LIST OF 10 ITEMS intended for the individual and Businesses world-wide, I feel they must reconsider our potential, (6 billion World individuals), and guide us, or should I say direct us, to do much more towards cleaning up our World,
PLEASE UNITED NATIONS, GET TOGETHER AND PRODUCE AND ENFORCE A CLEAR AND SIMPLE PLAN OF ACTIVITIES WHICH EACH OF US WILL BE ONLY TOO EAGER TO PERFORM WHEN IT MEANS SAVING OUR WORLD FOR OUR PEOPLE INCLUDING THOSE GENERATIONS WHO WILL INHERIT WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND US.
People’s reactions worldwide will be voluntary and be performed with great satisfaction. Perhaps, and more importantly, our Politicians will be less reluctant to disappoint them.
WE CAN AND WE MUST….
